For you poor people out there who have yet to get this, here’s another Holy Flying Circus clip, this time one of the deleted scenes, named ‘Palin’s Diary’.

Watching this has suddenly reminded me of something that Palin actually wrote in his Python diaries:

“As I work in the afternoon on committing to paper some of my morning’s thoughts, I find myself just about to close on the knotty question of whether or not I believe in God. In fact I am about to type ‘I do not believe in God’, when the sky goes black as ink, there is a thunderclap and a huge crash of thunder and a downpour of epic proportions. I never do complete the sentence.”

Friday, 9th November 1979 - the day of the debate. If you notice carefully, the video shows Michael typing his entry date as ‘Friday 9th May‘ instead of November. Tut-tut.

Aha! I suspected it was actual-diary-based from the tone of it, but didn’t know for certain. <3
